Travelogue : 2014 in Review

Tuesday, December 23, 2014

It's already that time of the year again, to reflect back on all the good and bad things that happened in 2014. I've been blessed for many opportunities that came for the past one year, the chance to travel to places I've never been before, to experience both culture and the beauty of my homeland, Indonesia.

I always love the idea of getting detach from our daily routines once in a while. In July, I've traveled to 3 places ; Solo, Derawan Island, and Bali. It was very special since July is my birthday month and I would like to consider it as my birthday presents, the best one ever. My travel to Solo was also very memorable since I went for an assignment by Alphabet Family Journal (will reveal photos soon). How I finally participated on 30days writing challenge by Write Alm, where I wrote every single morning on my journal before getting into the routines and how it changed the way I see things. How I got to met a lot of inspiring people and collaborate with some of them. How the last month in 2014 brings so much joy since I got to contribute for a photo book that hopefully will be published earlier next year. How there's a lesson learned with unpleasant tragedy. And here it goes.......

I was planning to make a simple photo book with a title "July" where I can gather all photos from my trip in that special month. But unfortunately, I lost my laptop with all its data back in October, I was struggling and searching high and low for my photos and travelogues on email and other sources. Luckily, I still have all my film negatives safe and sound. Boy it was tough, but soon I realized it's a loss as well as a good way to begin again. I still remember what my boss said, "When all of a sudden you lost all of your things, don't you realized that it's just a tool that make our life become easier and without it we still manage to survive?"

And here I'd be very happy to share some of my unpublished photos from this year's trip. My travelogue in 2014, taken with both film and digital. I hope you enjoy seeing this as much as I do enjoy treasure each of the photograph. Thank you 2014, for all the lessons, I learned a lot! Thank you for those who dropping by and read my blog, I apologize if these past few months I haven't spent much time on getting back to blogwalking, I miss it though, I hope you're all doing well and have the best time spent with family and loved ones in this jolly season. Cheers for many wonderful years to come!

Living Loving Food Story with Dita Wistarini

Tuesday, December 9, 2014

Life has been pretty busy these past few months and when you got a chance to attend a lovely food styling workshop, suddenly all the late nights and hard works become worth while. I was lucky enough when Nike from LivingLoving asked me to come to Afternoon Delight Food story with this amazing food photographer Dita Wistarini.

It was such a day well spent meeting new and familiar faces accompanied by inspiring stories told by Dita herself about her journey in becoming a professional food photographer. In the free time, I got a chance to talk with her about photography and how her Dad who was a journalist photographer inspired her to take photos.

All the properties are very simple yet very lovely, complements each of every element of the photo itself. Even better, Pipiltin Cocoa provides all the yummy and good looking desserts. At the end of the day, I gained my energy back and feel very inspired afterwards to face another week. Thank you Dita for the lessons and sharing session, Nike and Miranti for the incredible opportunity.
